|
How to Cheat in
the Savage Empire.
In order to cheat
within the Savage Empire two things are needed.
-
The list of commands
and information on this page or downloadable as text.
-
The program MDHack,
created by F-15 Dragon.
Once you
have the program you unzip it and from a MSDos window run the program,
specifying your Savage Empire directory, not the Martian Dreams one
listed in the instructions.
The Command Keys
These commands
are accessed by holding down the Alt key, and typing the number on
the numeric keypad. The only one which normally works in SE is Alt-213,
which gives the current X,Y,Z location and the time in the game.
The others were
programmed into the game, but disabled before release. F-15 Dragon
wrote a program which activated similar disabled functions in the
Sequel, Martian Dreams, but it will also work for the Savage Empire.
You can download the patch program, MDHACK above.
The Function Keys
I have found so far are listed below. Note that there does not appear
to be a create item function that can be accessed by this method.
Also remember that all numeric values required as input or received
by using these commands are given in Hexadecimal (base 16) not Decimal.

Alt-213
|
|

|
|

Edit NPC
Flags. Exact details unknown, but they vary from NPC to NPC.
(For example in U6, one of LB's flags let you use the Orb
of the Moons, while it might allow a new conversation response
from a different character.)
|
|
Alt-252
|
|
Tiles
Free (Available memory?)
|
What's your favourite
person's number?
There is one NPC
whose number I have not located yet - the Wisp. There are also some
numbers left blank - they are parrots found in the game. Only the
individual characters are listed, not the generic tribesmen.

The observant reader
may have noticed that there are three different versions of Dr Johann
Spector. This is because he is encountered in three separate locations,
with different dialogue options at each point.
Places Worth the
Visit.
These are coordinates
which either are of important locations, or of people who are outside
the main village. They are given in no particular order, just in the
order I thought of them. I've left the end game location off so people
don't get too carried away. There is an NPC right there though, so
if you really want to cheat, you can jump to her... (hint - she isn't
human)
